What is a 3D printer?
A 3D printer is a machine that builds real objects layer by layer. It reads a digital design from a computer and slowly "prints" the object by melting and stacking thin layers of plastic called filament!
Layer by layer
3D printing builds objects from the bottom up, one thin layer at a time. Each layer is like one slice of bread — stack enough slices and you have a loaf! The layers fuse together to form the final shape.
Design → Print
First, someone designs the object on a computer using CAD software. Then they send the file to the printer. The printer does the rest — melting filament and building the object automatically!
