Model Creation Activity

Learning Objectives

  • Apply the Plan → Gather → Build → Check process
  • Build a simple 3D model using available materials
  • Evaluate their model against their original plan and identify improvements
Kindergarten · Lesson 9 of 10 · Maker Stage

Model Creation Activity

Follow the steps to build your very first 3D model!

🎯 The 4-Step Maker Process
  1. Plan — Decide what you want to make before you start. Draw it first!
  2. Gather — Collect the clay, cardboard, or blocks you will need.
  3. Build — Put your model together step by step. Take your time!
  4. Check — Does your model look like your plan? If not, that's okay — improve it!
🏗️ Today's Build Challenge

Build a simple house using any materials available:

  • Use a rectangular block or cardboard box for the walls
  • Use a triangular piece (folded cardboard) for the roof
  • Add a small square for the door and rectangles for windows
⚠️ Remember

It doesn't need to be perfect! Real engineers build, test, and fix. If your roof falls off, that's just a chance to make it stronger. Keep trying!

🧠 This Is Engineering!

When you plan → gather → build → check, you are following the same steps that real engineers and architects use to design buildings, bridges, and machines. Welcome to engineering! 🏗️

Required Materials

  • Building blocks or cardboard boxes
  • Cardboard scraps for roof
  • Tape and glue
  • Scissors (teacher-supervised)
  • Drawing paper for planning sketch
