Identifying Object Forms

Look at objects carefully and name the shapes you see inside them!

๐Ÿ•
Clock face
The clock face is a perfect circle โ€” round with no corners!
๐Ÿ“š
Book cover
A book cover is a rectangle โ€” two long sides and two short sides.
๐Ÿ
House
A house has a rectangle body and a triangle roof on top!
โœ๏ธ
Pencil
A pencil body is a long cylinder with a triangle tip at the end.
โœ‹ Activity: Form Detective

Choose 3 objects in the room. For each object, describe its form: Is it round? Flat? Tall? Pointy? Write or draw your answers in your Maker Journal.

๐Ÿง  Key Idea

Most objects are made of multiple shapes combined! A house = rectangle + triangle. A lollipop = circle + rectangle. Look closely and you'll see the shapes hiding inside!
